South Fish Creek Recreation Association needed an online registration system to handle bookings for ice time for shinny hockey. We had previously built their marketing website using the Joomla! CMS system, so we created a custom component to handle the new booking system.

This custom component extended Joomla! to allow any registered member to join a regularly scheduled shinny game. Goalies are free, but anyone else needs to register with the site and pay a small fee to play.

The system handles the administration side of things:

• Registering game times
• Management of users
• E-Mail notifications
• Promoting registered users on the waiting list

In addition, the front end handles:

• Access control / Authentication
• Ice time credit managment
• Booking time for a specific game
• Cancelling previously booked time
